What we believe

WE BELIEVE the Bible to be the inspired and the only infallible and authoritative Word of God.

WE BELIEVE and accept the Apostolic, the Nicene and the Athanasion Creeds with the rest of orthodox Christianity

WE BELIEVE that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

WE BELIEVE in the deity and humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE in Jesus' virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His physical future return to this earth in power and glory.

WE BELIEVE that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious shed blood of Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE that a born again experience by the regeneration through the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.

WE BELIEVE that water baptism is essential for all Christians who desire to mature and truly walk in the newness of life.

WE BELIEVE that the baptism of the Holy Spirit, accompanied by the gifts of the Holy Spirit is essential for serving the Lord and that these gifts are available to each believer.

WE BELIEVE in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.

WE BELIEVE in the restoration of the 5-fold ministries (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers) to equip the saints (the believers) to do the work of service.

WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the one to everlasting life, and the other to everlasting damnation.

WE BELIEVE that we are only one part of the Christian Church and that together with all Christian Churches we represent the Body of Christ on Earth.

WE BELIEVE in celebrating the Lord's Supper each Sunday as we meet for worship and that this meal offers healing for the whole body.

About our worship

One aspect of the old and new in our church is readily seen in our worship...

Jesus said, "A time is coming.... when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." (John 4:23)

What is worshiping in Spirit and Truth?

For us it means giving the Holy Spirit the freedom and opportunity to bring variety into our expressions of love and praise of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ.

What kind of variety might the Holy Spirit inspire?

God's Word provides the norm and the pattern for what He might do through us, some of which are....

We sing familiar hymns as well as psalms and choruses.

"be filled with the Holy Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord." (Ephesians 5:18-19)

We may clap our hands.

"O clap your hands, all you people, shout to God with a voice of triumph." (Psalm 47:1)

We may lift our hands.

"Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord." (Psalm 134:2)

We may have prophesying.

"Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy... for everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their for their strengthening, encouragement, and comfort." (1 Corinthians 14:1,3)

We may have speaking in unknown tongues and interpretation.

"Therefore my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues." (1 Corinthians 14:39)
"Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good..... to another the ability to speak in different kinds of tongues, and still another the interpretation of tongues." (1 Corinthians 12:7,10)

We pray for the sick and one another.

"Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord." (James 5:14)
